Case 2427: Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
After having children, this patient developed loose skin of the abdominal region and excess fat in the flank areas (love handles). She also had separation of the muscle from the stretch created by pregnancy. The excess fat in the flanks is what protrudes over the pants often referred to as the "muffin top" appearance. She underwent an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with liposuction of the flanks. During the tummy tuck, the muscles are sutured together to act as an internal girdle to tighten the muscle layer, which in turn decreases the bulging to the abdomen. She has an excellent result from her tummy tuck and liposuction to flanks.
