The Institute of Plastic Surgery, serving the Colorado Springs,
Denver, & Pueblo areas, provides a full spectrum of available
plastic surgical procedures of the breast to address your particular
needs. Some the plastic surgery procedures are, breast
augmentation,
breast reduction, breast
lift, and breast reconstruction.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is used to enlarge or enhance the shape
and symmetry of the breasts. It is most often desired by
women who would like to look and feel more confident about the
appearance of their breasts. Specifically, augmentation
can enhance the figure, replace lost breast volume which has
occurred as a result of age or pregnancy, and improve any asymmetry
in the breasts.
Breast augmentation involves insertion of a saline or silicone
filled breast implant behind the breast tissue or behind the
chest wall muscle (pectoralis muscle) depending upon your requirements. It
is among the most common plastic surgery procedures performed
in the United States
Implants can be placed in the desired location via several different
incision locations: around the areola; an incision in the armpit;
and from an incision near the lower fold of the breast. There
are also different shapes, textures, and sizes available in breast
implants. Our plastic surgeons will discuss the differences
of the various incisions and implant types to help you choose
the right implant for you.

Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty)
Breast reduction surgery is optimal for those who develop discomfort
and difficulties associated with excess weight and size of their
breasts. Women can experience back & neck pain, headaches,
shoulder problems, bra strap grooving & pain, postural problems,
nerve problems of the arm or hand, and skin infections under
the breasts. These women will often find themselves embarrassed
and self-conscious. Large breasts and the associated problems
can afflict women of any age, including girls during puberty.
Breast reduction surgery involves removal of the excess skin,
fat, and glandular tissue of the breast. There is also
a reduction in the size of the areola, since it is usually stretched
out from the constant weight of the breast. Another welcome
effect of the surgery is a breast lift that helps restore a more
youthful, lifted or “perky” look.
The majority of patients who undergo breast reduction wish they
had done it years earlier. Cosmetic surgeons, Dr. Dash and Dr.
Jain, feel that breast reduction surgery patients are some of
the most satisfied patients plastic surgery patients. It can
have a dramatic impact on a patient's lifestyle and self-esteem.
During your consultation at the Institute of Plastic Surgery,
in Colorado Springs, our board certified surgeons will evaluate
you to see if you are a good candidate for breast reduction surgery.
They will send the necessary information to your insurance company
to see if you qualify. Many insurance companies will authorize
coverage of breast reduction surgery, knowing that it can provide
health improvements to patients.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast lift (mastopexy) is the procedure used to reproduce the
shape and “perkiness” of youthful appearing breasts. Gravity,
time and loosening of supporting ligaments after pregnancy and
nursing each contribute to a saggy, flattened appearance of the
breast.
The surgery involves raising the nipple and areola to a higher
level, which can be performed with various different incisions
depending upon the degree of sagging. Occasionally, a breast
implant is used to improve the size, shape, firmness and projection
of the breast in conjunction with the breast lift.

the breast following mastectomy or breast removal for breast
cancer. The

by a breast implant. Breast
reconstruction is a complex process which our physicians will
thoroughly explain to you during your consultation.
We at the Institute of Plastic Surgery recognize that understanding
and coping with the diagnosis of breast cancer is very difficult. Our
